Chase the Sun Frequent Questions

cts-new_sml_trans

Do we have to ride for the whole 8 hours?

Just because it's 5, 6, 7 or 8hrs long doesn't mean that everyone has to ride for that amount of time!!!!
For the majority of participants their team rides as a relay, with one 'active' rider on course at a time. The rest of the time the team sits back, basks in the afterglow of post lap euphoria before putting the drinks and food aside in time for another lap.

8 hours?  Sounds pretty hardcore?
The majority of riders are considered to be "weekend warriors", people who work full time and enjoy being active on weekends.   Whether you're a strong rider, or a recreational rider, our categories have been designed to accommodate all levels.  This event is perfect for every level of mountain biker!  You ride as much or as little as you like within the event time frame.

So what if we stop before the 8 hour mark?
If you decide to stop before the 8 hour mark, no problem, you will still get a result and will not DNF.  You can have a rest in between laps too, if you feel like it, before heading out on another lap.

What if my team mate come in at 7hrs and 59min?
If your team mate comes in at the 7hr 59min mark, you are good to pump out another lap.
However, at 8hrs, the exit gate to the course closes - game over.

So how is the winner decided?
The team with the most laps wins, and if teams are on equal laps, the fastest overall race time wins.

What if I can't make it to registration at either the Dirt Crits or Trailmix?

You will need to email  us (use the contact us page) to plead your case and we will sort out an alternative arrangement for you!

Where do we park?
Parking for each round is dependant on the location of each round, (either Hallam Nth Rd or Horswood Rd). FGP staff will be marshalling the carpark so that we can fit as many cars as possible.  Please follow their instructions and help out by car pooling with your team mates.  Overflow car parking for Hallam Nth Rd is 1km down the road at the Joan Phillips Reserve.

Is the course the same for every round?
Each round will have a different course, all with a good mix of singletrack and firetrail.  The course is decided close to the event date in consideration of rider numbers, trail conditions and forecasted weather.
